Lenovo introduced the Cast – rival Apple TV support DLNA and Miracast

Lenovo unveiled at an official event in China new device called a Cast. Set-top box, designed to compete with Apple TV and Google Chromecast, also uses to connect the HDMI port and provides streaming video and audio.

Lenovo Cast connects to any TV or monitor. As the Apple device allows you to stream content from your smartphone, tablet or laptop to the big screen. To do this, use wireless Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4/5.0 GHz).

Cast supports DLNA, which allows compatible devices to transmit and receive over a home network different media content. Furthermore, we support the Miracast standard for wireless transmission of multimedia signal developed on the basis of Wi-Fi Direct.

The gadget is made in the form of a washer with a diameter of 70 mm and a height of 15 mm; the weight is about 50 grams. It is possible to work with devices running iOS, Android 4.3 and above, as well as Windows 8.1 and above. According to manufacturer, the broadcast data may be performed with a distance of 20 meters, including through walls.

On sale Lenovo Cast will be available in August at an estimated price of $ 50. The Apple set-top box costs in USA 20 dollars more expensive.
