Amazon refused to sell the Apple TV – it doesn’t support Prime Video

The largest U.S. online seller of goods and services Amazon introduces a ban on the sale of extenders Apple TV and Google Chromecast to promote your own products — Fire TV and Fire TV Stick, which were shown to the public last year.

Set-top boxes Apple and Google are not sold on Amazon on September 29. The official reason devices do not support proprietary service of Prime Video. Such consoles like the Xbox One, Sony PlayStation, Roku and, of course, its own product-Fire TV, which supports Prime Video, will continue to be sold on Amazon.

The step to ban sales of the popular in the online store of competitors ‘ products may perturb some customers, but will give the chance to the company to become a supplier of everything from a simple retailer.

It is noted that at the time of the current competitors were working in completely different spheres — Apple did with computers and phones, Google searching, and Amazon is selling products online.

The ban coincided with the most active shopping period in the U.S. – pre-Christmas sales. Apple TV and Google Chromecast are the most popular set-top boxes in the U.S. and their absence on the website of the retailer can severely affect the activity of buyers of the Amazon. But most of all, the new strategy of the online seller could hurt Google, which has no own stores sales, like Apple.

Apple declined to comment on the situation with the ban on the sale of its set-top box.
