Sale Essential Phone failed

While everyone is discussing the negative sales forecasts for the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, one of the competitors Apple has introduced bigger problems.

The company’s Andy Rubin Essential sold only 5 000 branded smartphones. Reported by analysts from BayStreet.

BayStreet tracks the sales of smartphones in retail sales. Essential became the first major start-up project of the Creator of Android Andy Rubin. Now it sells premium Essential mobile Phone for 699$, and also plans to release a hub for the smart home to the end of the year. Representatives of the company to allegations of shipped devices did not reply.

Low sales Essential can be related to the fact that the new smartphone is only sold in USA and Canada, in each of the countries through only one operator. Besides Andy Rubin claims the niche of premium gadgets, which already has such strong players as Apple and Samsung.

Bad start sales in stark contrast with expectations, the estimated cost of the company and the interest of the public to it. Tim Culpan from Bloomberg recently estimated it to be 1.2 billion, and the FierceWireless website called the Essential one of the most important startups of the year.

Previously Essential Phone is already criticized for his lack of popular features and useless system of the magnetic modules. The company also inadvertently revealed the personal data of the buyers.
