Tim cook will receive the award of Robert Kennedy for protecting the rights of gays and lesbians

In December, Apple CEO spend in the company of the first U.S. officials: President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle will host in Washington the star guests at the gala evening in honour of the award of a name of John Kennedy in the protection of human rights. This ceremony has been held for more than thirty years.

Tim cook was selected by a prestigious jury. The criteria of the award in respect of the nominee are the protection of human rights, personal courage and authority. It must represent a non-governmental organization that makes an important contribution to social change within the country, possibly to be its leader. To congratulate the Apple receipt with rainbow tapes, which at that ceremony replaces the statues in the U.S. capital will fly colleagues and old friends of the winner.

Last year, Apple CEO came out openly in support of the law banning employment discrimination of gays and lesbians. A few days later the U.S. Senate voted for the bill prohibiting the firing of employees because of their sexual orientation, as well as to deny gays and lesbians in hiring, and he greeted the decision in his Twitter.

Cook confessed to homosexuality last year, although rumors about his sexual orientation went a long time. “So far I have not confessed publicly to their sexual orientation. Now I want to be clear: I’m proud that I’m gay, and I consider it one of the greatest gifts from the Lord,” said cook.
