Only 0.3% of Android devices received the update to Nougat, iOS 10 exceeds 60%

The Android operating system 7.0 “Nougat” came out a month earlier iOS 10, but it continues to be one of the rarest versions of the OS. The next statistics Google gathered 7 days, the last of which was November 7. At this point, the Nougat share was only 0.3%. Less only Android 2.2 Froyo (0,1%), which was released in may 2010.

At the moment Android 5 Lollipop is the most popular platform of Google, it accounts for 34.1%. Over the past month, Android 6.0 Marshmallow has increased its presence in the market from 18.7% to 24%, the share of Android 4.4 KitKat decreased from 27.7% to 25.2%.

But fresh Android 7.0 Nougat is gaining popularity quite slowly, during this time, the result improved from 0.1% to 0.3%. This is because the list of devices that you can install this version of Android, is still severely limited.

At the same time, Apple’s, despite the sprawling range of mobile devices continues to strictly control the process of upgrading their own mobile devices, achieving by the end of October increase in the share of iOS 10 to 60%. Against the backdrop of the “Apple” of the platform adoption rate of Android 7.0 looks depressing.

Justice I must say that about 8% of iPhone, iPad and iPod touch continue to work on iOS below the ninth version. On the one hand, it is connected with the end of support devices, and with another – unwillingness and inability of some owners to upgrade to new versions of the system. In any case, the strong fragmentation of the ecosystem does not carry anything good and can potentially harm all market participants because of the impossibility of total eradication of critical security threats.

In a recent presentation, Apple CEO Tim cook noted this fact. “Most devices will never receive Android 7.0” – he said. The new mobile OS Apple cook called “the most advanced in the world.” “The reaction of users on iOS 10 was phenomenal,” added the CEO.
