How to use Siri Shortcuts in iOS 12

In the fall, when will release iOS 12, the App Store displays app Shortcuts, but already now it is possible to replace with Workflow.

What is Siri Shortcuts

In fact, it’s Automator for iOS. An application that will allow you to perform routine tasks with one click or one voice command. For example, create playlists, adding tracks manually, change the size of photos, to order coffee and so on. Many of these functions already performs utility Work flow.

How to set up a Workflow to work with Siri Shortcuts

We already wrote about how you can create automatic actions in the Workflow for working with music and other tasks. After installation and configuration of a certain order of actions in the Workflow should:

  • To open the device settings.
  • Go to menu “and Siri Search”.
  • In the Shortcuts tab you should see all the processes ever run in the application Workflow.
  • You need to choose one of them to have button record your own phrases.
  • Then, press the record button and say any phrase that would start the process.
  • That’s about it.

Now the automated process created in the Workflow can be started via Siri, saying their own key phrase.

What happens in the fall

After we released the stable version of iOS 12, the application Workflow will be renamed to Shortcuts and will get enhanced support for third-party programs. This means that developers can add their actions on the basis of which you can create more advanced processes. For example, you can automate the processing and publication of images in social networks or edit notes in apps like Drafts.
