In addition, 60% of users reported that approximately two-thirds of the smartphone falls occur from a height from waist to shoulder.
Gorilla glass 5 has been tested on uneven surfaces, and as a demonstration for the press it has been dropped on the sandpaper with a four-foot height. Some smartphones, the testing of which occurred in the laboratory, can withstand up to 220 hard landings. In addition to drops, the new material does an excellent job with scratches and chips, especially compared to other popular examples.
New Corning glass is already commercially available, but it will take some time until will be available equipped with them smartphones. iPhone 7 will be one of the first devices on the market, protected by Gorilla Glass 5.
