Tele2 announced a new service “messenger Plus”, under which subscribers can use Viber without payment traffic. This is stated in the press release of the cellular operator.
The service “messenger Plus” provides unlimited Internet traffic in the applications WhatsApp and Viber. Option includes non-chargeable messaging, transmitting photos and video. Traffic voice and video calls through the instant messengers are paid according to the current pricing schedule and discounts.
You can activate the service in the personal Cabinet “My Tele2” or dial *155*521#. To disable the option, you must dial *155*520#. Subscription fee for use of the service is 2 rubles a day.
As described in Tele2, from the beginning of 2017 the number of users of the service “messenger Plus” has grown in 2,5 times. WhatsApp and Viber are the most popular messengers among Tele2 subscribers. In particular, the application WhatsApp nearly 5.9 million customers every day using the service to communicate more than 3 million subscribers. The number of Viber users among the clients of Tele2 is more than 4 million people.
According to Viber, the total audience of the messenger in Russia exceeded 82 million people. During the year the number of Russian users of the app increased by 23.5 million people, or 40,17%. The possible reasons for such dynamics the company believes the increase in the number of smartphones in the population and active promotion of the messenger.
The total subscriber base of leading Russian operators exceeds 248,6 million people (data for MTS, “MegaFon” and “Beeline” given as at the end of 2016, and for Tele2 in the second quarter of 2016). That is, the Viber messenger is used by every third subscriber of the “big four”.
