“Yandex.Taxi” blocked drivers transporting passengers for money, after the explosion in the subway of St. Petersburg

“Yandex.Taxi” blocked access orders for taxi drivers who took charge from passengers after the explosion in the subway of Saint Petersburg, despite the willingness of the service to offset the costs. This was stated by the representative of the press service of “Yandex” Ekaterina Lebedeva.
April 3 at approximately 17.00 “Yandex.Taxi” warned about the abolition of tariffs of drivers throughout the city. According to the representative of the company “Yandex” has promised to drivers to offset costs, but some of them still demanded the passengers money.
“All drivers who carried passengers free of charge, we will cover the cost. Unfortunately, some cases when drivers tried to take advantage of the situation and take the passengers money, despite our requests, and willingness to subsidize the free rides, after all, met. All users who sent us information about these trips, we will promptly return the money,” — said Lebedev.
“With drivers who behaved in this way, we will be dealt with separately, including to block the access to users in the application “Yandex.Taxi” she said, adding that the trip to St. Petersburg yesterday at about 17:00 MSK was free – “in any point of the city and from anywhere, not just from the metro stations, where the tragedy occurred”.
Uber has also introduced free travel of emergency in St. Petersburg. In a press-service of the company told only about one complaint of a taxi driver. “We received only one complaint that the driver was asked to pay cash for the trip, which was marked by the application as free. Of course, we will refund the user the cost of the trip. We thank all drivers, who yesterday responded to our request, came on the line and helped people to get home,” commented the company.
As told in the press service Gett, if the company will convict drivers in misconduct, they will be immediately disconnected from the service. On the eve of Gettaxi said that they would not enter raising factors and the cost of the trip will not be tied to increased demand.
Day 3 April at the metro in St. Petersburg, an explosion occurred on the stretch from the station “Sennaya Ploschad” to the “Technological Institute”. The result was 14 people dead and more than 40 were injured. After the explosion, the work of the subway was suspended for about five hours, the train traffic was resumed only after 20:30.
Earlier it was reported that the Committee on transport of administration of St.-Petersburg to check the information about the taxi drivers, dramatically increase the price of admission after the closure of the subway, where the attack occurred.
