WSJ: Apple plans to introduce its own electric car in 2019

Apple is stepping up efforts on manufacturing of electric cars and plans to introduce its first vehicle in 2019. According to The Wall Street Journal citing informed sources.

Apple over the years have evaluated the possibility of implementing the project car codenamed Titan, which has been approved within the company. The project managers have already received permission to triple the state, which now has 600 people, said the news Agency.

Despite the fact that Apple hired experts, the company has no plans to do its first fully Autonomous electric car, told the publication sources. Only in the long term, the company expects production driverless car.

The WSJ notes that the plans to put the car in 2019 does not necessarily mean that this is the time buyers will be able to buy a car. Such wording also could mean that in four years the company’s engineers will only indicate the main features of the product.

According to some, to create your own electric car Apple intends to use the concept of the BMW i3. The negotiations between the two companies began last fall. Interest in cooperation with the Bavarian automaker was so large that Apple CEO Tim cook personally came to center BMW for the production of electric cars in Leipzig to take a look on line for the release of the BMW i3.

Apple is interested in the housing i3, is made from carbon fiber for lighter weight.
