“VKontakte” introduces a monthly fee for listening to music

Social network “Vkontakte” on April 28 introduced a paid subscription to the music. This was stated by the representative Mail.ru Group (owns 100% of “Vkontakte” and 100% “Classmates”). At the same time, the social network relaunched its music section.

Now the users of “Vkontakte” will be invited to apply for a paid subscription: for 149 rubles per month, they will be able to listen to music without advertising, and also use a separate app Boom. To pay for a subscription by credit card.

Subscription music will work as in the web versions of “Vkontakte”, and mobile client for iOS and Android, as well as in the partner application BOOM. The latter has the ability to download tracks for offline listening — from the application “Vkontakte” for Android caching of songs already removed (from the iOS version it was removed in September 2016).

“In the framework of the standard functionality of music services, social networking, music will remain available and free — but with advertising”, — said in Mail.ru Group.

“VKontakte” notes that social network users can create their own playlists and share them with friends, to listen to and add music selections from friends, communities, celebrities and editors of the social network.

Also “Vkontakte” has launched a clever system of personal recommendations, which analyzes previously listened to songs and the user’s subscription, and a special unit will display the work of young musicians.
