VKontakte bought from Pavel Durov data center for 920 million rubles

Social network “Vkontakte” was bought from its founder Pavel Durov data center at 919 million. Such information contains in the financial report of the company for the first half of 2015.

The acquisition of the data center was closed in may 2015. In June this was officially declared the press-Secretary of “Vkontakte” Giorgi Lubushkin. We are talking about buying the company ICVA Ltd., who owns data center “ICWA”, located in the Leningrad region. One of the purposes of acquisition of the asset holding company called “improving the technological independence of the group from a third-party hosting”.

“The data center is sold on the evaluation of the independent audit company of the “big four”. Me or Telegram, the asset is not needed, but “Vkontakte” it will reduce costs and dependence on third-party suppliers,” wrote the actor.

In 2011, the data center ICVA that stores the most data users “Vkontakte”, belonged to the former Vice-President of the social networks Ilya Perekopsky. It then became the property of Durova. In “Vkontakte” does not own its own data centre has become one of the causes of the conflict between the founder of the social network and its new shareholders — the Fund UCP.

In early 2014 as a result of the exacerbation of differences between the parties Durov sold his stake in Vkontakte holding Mail.Ru Group, and then resigned as CEO. Now the social network is a wholly owned Mail.Ru Group.
