In applications MAPS.ME for Android and iOS can now edit OpenStreetMap maps. Built-in editor allows you to map new objects and edit information about them.
The application MAPS.ME uses map data from OpenStreetMap project, dedicated to the creation of a detailed map of the world by the users. Thanks to the app update editing OpenStreetMap is made easier and more accessible for mobile users, and for those who have no time to study the table map editors.

At the moment, for editing MAPS.ME available data about homes, pharmacies, stores, restaurants, Barber shops and other establishments. Objects can be mapped to set or change information (hours, phone, website, type of cuisine, availability of Wi-Fi and so on). Also, a special button for reporting that the object at the specified address is no more (e.g., closed gas station). The editing restriction by location no – the user can change how objects that are near, and those located in any other familiar place, for example, in his hometown. But the main focus of the editor MAPS.ME remains hyperlocal cartography: replenishment and renewal of the card on the principle of “saw – said”.
Like the app itself, the map editor works without Internet connection. The edits will be visible on the smartphone or tablet user immediately, even if it is outside network coverage. In a common database openstreetmap.org data will be taken after the Internet connection – the app will prompt you to register or login to OpenStreetMap.
The OpenStreetMap project is filled on the same principles as the Wikipedia. Users from all over the world editing map the known areas. Maps are continuously updated and checked by the forces of the fast-growing OSM community: the number of editors is more than 2 million people.
