TSMC will be the sole supplier of processors for Apple’s A10 for iPhone 7

Apple appealed to the world’s largest contract semiconductor manufacturer Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) for the order of new generation processors A10. It is reported Dailycomm with reference to industry publication DigiTimes.

As it became known in March next year TSMC will start mass production of Apple chips A10, designed for the iPhone 7, which will be released in autumn next year. While the Taiwanese company will be one to produce these chips at a time for the production of Apple A9 respond TSMC and Samsung.

The situation with the exclusive contract with TSMC seems extremely doubtful, as Apple always tried to buy key components from several manufacturers at the same time in order to minimize the reduction in the supply of devices in case one of the partners encounter any difficulties. In TSMC did not comment on this information because the company traditionally does not discuss the orders and their customers.

According to a source, TSMC will use the brand the layout level of the substrate InFO (Integrated Fan-out and 16-nm FinFET process, which is used in Apple’s A9 processor. The share of TSMC accounted for half of total production of this chip installed in the recently-announced iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.

Previously KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, who often shared believable information about Apple’s latest product announcements and events associated with the American company, said that TSMC has received a third of the orders for the release of Apple A9 chips.
