Tim cook criticized trump’s decision to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement in a letter to Apple employees

The founder of Apple Tim cook sent out a letter to employees in which he criticized the decision of U.S. President Donald trump out of the Paris climate agreement.

That Donald trump made this decision became known in the evening on 1 June. This step was the final stage in the destruction of the heritage of Barack Obama on the issues of environmental conservation and climate change. Trump has repeatedly stated that it does not take this issue seriously, and the agreement prevented the United States to expand production capacity.

“I know that many of you share my disappointment with the White House decision to withdraw the U.S. from the Paris climate agreement. I spoke with President trump on Thursday, tried to convince him to keep the agreement. But that was not enough,” – wrote Tim cook.

“Climate change is a reality, and we all have a responsibility for combating them. I want to assure you that today’s events will not affect the efforts of worldwide environment protection. Almost all of the consumed electricity comes from renewable energy sources, which, in our opinion, is an example of what is right for the planet and business,” added cook.

Agreement to combat climate change was produced in Paris in 2015, signed in April 2016 at the headquarters of UN in new York. Signatures under the document were put by representatives of over 170 countries, including the US, China and Russia. It replaced the Kyoto Protocol. The Paris agreement obliged the US by 2025 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 26-28 percent below 2005 levels.

During last year’s election campaign trump threatened withdrawal from the Paris agreement, which entered into force four days before his election as President. World leaders in conversations with trump, and in particular the President of France Emmanuel Makron, urged the President not to take hasty decisions on the Paris agreement on climate change.

In his speech press conference in front of the White house Donald trump announced that the Paris climate agreement puts the US at a disadvantage relative to other countries.

Earlier it became known that the founder of Tesla and SpaceX Elon Musk leaves all councils at the President of the United States after the decision of Donald trump about the release of the Paris climate agreement. “Climate change is real. Withdrawal from the Paris agreement is not good for America and for the world,” said Musk.
