In the first half of 2016, the share of the Chinese company ZTE on the Russian market of smartphones doubled compared to the first half of 2015. According to “Vedomosti”, the share of the manufacturer in the Russian market of smartphones in the first half of 2016 grew faster than Apple’s share.
Share ZTE for a specified period of ten years increased by 3 percentage points to 6%, says an employee of one of the retailers. According to preliminary estimates Telecom Daily, in the first half of 2016, were sold in Russia 11.3 million smartphones (+9% compared to the first half of 2015).

However, according to MTS, ZTE is at the 6th place after Samsung, Apple, Lenovo, Alcatel and Fly. ZTE took 6 th place a year ago, since then its position has improved. For the year ZTE, in particular, surpassed Sony (its share fell to 2%, or 3 percentage points) and LG (its share to 4%, 1 PP higher than a year earlier).
According to Gartner, in the first quarter of 2016, the top five vendors of smartphones in the global market were three Chinese companies: Huawei, Oppo and Xiaomi. They accounted for 17.2% of deliveries of smart phones in the world.
ZTE is not the only Chinese brand of smartphones, the demand for which is increasing in Russia. In the first quarter of 2016, were sold in Russia more than 8 times more Huawei smartphones than in the same period a year earlier, more than 124 000, reported by MTS. The proceeds from their sales increased nearly 10 times, reaching about 1.5 billion rubles. According to the representative of MTS in 5 months of 2016, smartphone sales, Huawei in Russia increased by 5.6 times.
Before the smartphones of Chinese brands sold primarily in low price segments (up to 5000-7000 rubles), now have expanded to the medium and high categories.
