The YouTube for iOS update fixes a problem with fast battery discharge

A few weeks ago it became known that YouTube is very battery intensive on iOS devices 11. Today, November 27, for the app released an update that resolves this issue.

YouTube has always been quick to defuse an iPhone or iPad, but in iOS 11 it began to happen even faster. It is not clear what exactly was the problem in iOS or the app, but many users confirm the presence of error.

Judging by the reviews, view 15-minute video could eat up more than ten percent of charging iOS devices and strongly heat it. This is clearly more than the norm, as video playback is not a problem of CPU or GPU.

In the description of the update number 12.45 says:

“Fixed problem with battery usage”.

Yet there hasn’t been any tests. Users who updated the app, note that when viewing 30-Manturovo video on iPhone X abnormally rapid discharge of battery occurred.

YouTube developers in recent years, actively working on optimizing the app for iPhone X. the Recent updates added zoom mode for edge-to-edge smartphones, the new iPhone support and the ability to play videos at 1440p.
