The statement of Microsoft about a two-fold superiority in performance over Surface Book MacBook Pro isn’t true

For the price and weight of a new laptop called Surface Book, very similar to MacBook Pro – the most expensive laptop from Apple. The laptop is intended primarily for architects, designers, scientists and other users who need computing power and advanced graphics capabilities. Representatives of Microsoft claim that their product is twice as fast as the 13-inch laptop from the “professional” line of Apple. Experts PCWorld decided to test this statement by comparing the performance Surface Book and MacBook Pro.

After spending a number of necessary studies was able to confirm that the device is “Apple” laptop actually slightly weaker than that in Surface Book, but not twice. In the role of independent judges made 3 Geekbench, LuxMark 3, Heaven 4.0 and some other benchmarks.

In the image above, you can see that the “filling” Surface Book really puts it in first place for part of the performance when computing the calculations. But the gap is minimal.

As for the graphics, that here Surface Book went considerably beyond MacBook Pro. The result was possible due to the presence of the first dedicated GeForce graphics card. The brainchild of Apple, in turn, is equipped with integrated graphics Intel, which became the decisive factor in the victory of the Surface. However, no two-fold superiority in terms of performance.

Surface Book was very good in the game Tomb Raider, showing average FPS on level 74.
