The developers of Telegram messenger announced the first major update to the official app for desktop platforms. The program Telegram Desktop was updated to version 1.0.
Telegram client for PC has existed since 2013, but with the latest release it got new design, which is consistent with the approach of Material Design, has smooth animation and support for themes. The app automatically sinhroniziruete all messages (including texts, documents, photos and videos) between smartphone and computer via encrypted Telegram service, say the developers.
Telegram Desktop 1.0 is available for macOS, Windows and GNU/Linux (claimed support for Ubuntu from 12.04 to 16.04 and Fedora 22-24). For desktop platforms there are also app Telegram Web Telegram and Mac, but the developers insist on the use of Telegram Desktop as a more universal solution.
Source code of Telegram Desktop is written in C++, distributed under the free GNU GPLv3 license (with an exception for OpenSSL) and published on GitHub.
