The performance of the iPhone 6s was comparable to the performance of the 12-inch MacBook

Thanks to Apple’s A9 processor new iPhone 6s approached the level of computing power to the 12-inch MacBook running on OS X. this conclusion came blogger John Gruber of Daring Fireball.

The platform of the previous generation Apple A8 had a pair of processor cores with a frequency of 1.4 GHz and a GPU PowerVR GX6650. In spite of the existence of a pair of cores, the system performed well in tests, although due to different operating systems, the results must be regarded accordingly. New 64-bit chip also has just two cores, but has 70% faster CPU clocked at 1.8 GHz, and 90% faster GPU than the A8.

According to the GeekBench results, in several cases iPhone 6s gains more points than a MacBook. So, in tests using single-threaded mode, the new flagship of Apple demonstrates the result in 2500 points. MacBook with Intel Core M processor at 1.1 GHz showed 2295 points, and version c 1,2-gigahertzes chip – 2420 points. Only the most expensive modification of the MacBook, which uses a processor with a frequency of 1.3 GHz, has been able to score more points than the iPhone 6s – 2631.

With regard to tests in the case of using all cores, the iPhone 6s is only slightly falls short of the MacBook in the base configuration – 4340 points against 4464. More powerful variants of Intel Core M lead more – 5018 and 5268 points.

12-inch MacBook Apple officially unveiled in March this year. Through the use of Intel Core M processor, the company managed to get rid of the active cooling system is the first Mac without fan. During this motherboard began to occupy less space than the touchpad. In fact the main component of the portable computer slightly larger than an iPhone or iPad. Judging from the comparison photo, the motherboard of the iPhone 6s is approximately twice less than the new MacBook.
