The number of Spotify paid subscribers has grown by 10 million over the six months – up to 50 million people

Spotify, which allows for a fixed monthly fee to listen to any music, released data about its audience. According to the CEO of the company, the streaming service has reached 50 million paid subscribers. For comparison, the number of paid subscribers Apple Music for December of this year amounted to 20 million.

In March 2016 Spotify was used by 30 million people. In September, the company announced 40 million subscribers. Thus for six months the company managed to increase the audience by 10 million people.

Prior to this Swedish service reported on the number of paid users in July 2015, before the start of the main competitor — music Apple Music service. Then the company announced reaching the mark of 20 million paid subscribers, increasing this figure for the year in half. Spotify continues to be the largest online music-subscription service.

Audience on Spotify is 100 million people, many users use the free version which has ads. The monthly audience of the second largest service Pandorа is about 80 million people.

The number of Apple Music subscribers is 20 million people. That audience services scored in 17 months. Spotify on achieving this result took 7 years.

Last year it was reported that Spotify is thinking about entering the Russian market. This, in particular, wrote “Vedomosti” with reference to employees of several major music labels and media companies. The sources emphasize that discussions at a very early stage and the decision to withdraw is still pending.
