Communications Minister Nikolai Nikiforov has announced the beginning of development of the Russian mobile operating system. The developer of the project “Open mobile platform” (OMP) located in Innopolis.
Nikiforov explained that currently, OMP open job developers of the operating system c source code that include elements of open-source code. The platform is designed for mobile devices based on Linux. Require professionals to have the skill of porting Android to new platforms, that is the new operating system will be some kind of known solutions.
“The main objective of the product is successful competition with the Android operating system in the market of budget mobile devices” — so the ISR is positioning its future product.
Nikiforov expressed confidence that it will be global mobile OS, and a significant part of the operating system code will be written in Russia. Developers can expect to earn from 100 000 rubles and above. Employees of OMP promises to rent for 7-10 thousand rubles, free kindergarten and school, subsidized gym memberships, health centre and modern office.
