The Minister of education of Russia supported the ban of smartphones in schools

During the all-Russian parent meeting, education Minister of Russia Olga Vasilyeva welcomed the idea of a ban on the use of phones in schools, writes “Interfax”.

Answering one of the questions Vasilyev supported the ban of smartphones in schools and cited the example of the French experience.

“Here my opinion is: the French did it for a long time, but right we have is the school doing, and we’ll be rewarded. I think sooner or later we will come to the same as French,” — said the Minister at the all-Russian parent meeting.

Vasiliev noted that in some schools there are special boxes in which students put phones. If parents need to contact the child, they can call the teacher.

“The question arises, why, if all there is? If you have a fully-equipped classrooms, tablets in the classroom have? They say that we need to work, but they do not need,” — said Vasilyev.

At the end of July 2018 in France, a law was passed that prohibits students to use smartphones to grade 9.
