The largest Ukrainian mobile operators started blocking of “Vkontakte”, “Classmates” and the service “Yandex”

The major mobile operators Kyivstar, Vodafone and Lifecell started blocking in the territory of Ukraine in social networks “Vkontakte”, “Classmates”, search, maps, and other services of “Yandex”. About it reports the local edition of Ain.

“Fulfilling the requirements of the decree [of the President of Ukraine], the Telecom operators now begin technical measures to restrict the provision of services of access to specified web sites according to the technical possibilities”, — stated in the message cell providers.

Operators block both mobile and desktop versions of sites. While the lock does not work at all users, but Twitter appear screenshots, confirming that the ban on services comes into force.

May 16 the President of Ukraine signed a decree, which introduces new sanctions against Russian companies. According to the document published on the website of the head of state, restrictions are imposed against 1228 people and 468 firms. Among those who fell under the sanctions includes, in particular, the largest Russian social network “Vkontakte” and “Classmates”.

Decree separately obligate Ukrainian Internet service providers and mobile operators to block access to the “Classmates”, “Vkontakte”, as well as services Mail.Ru Group and “Yandex”.

On the eve of the administration “Vkontakte” and “Classmates” and sent to Ukrainian users of social networks messages with the user bypass locks. In “Vkontakte” have already said that the day 16 may, the social network, visited by 18 million users from Ukraine — more than in any other day in the history of the site.
