The jailbreak tweak Disabler closes the TIFF vulnerability that allows the hack iPhone and iPad with a message

The developers of Hans Nielsen and Ryan Hyman released TIFF Disabler – a new jailbreak app for iOS that closes a critical vulnerability on devices with iOS 9. This add-on corrects the error of the engine, ImageIO, which makes it possible to conduct attacks on smartphones and tablets Apple.

On the eve MacDigger wrote about the vulnerability iOS that allows iPhone and iPad with an MMS message, which is attached to the media file with malicious code. Only one created in a special way the message or open in the browser picture can give an attacker access to personal data of the owner of the iOS device, including accounts stored in the device memory.

Critical bug (CVE-2016-4631) is a component of the Image I/O handler images. To exploit this vulnerability the attacker needs to create MMS or iMessage with an image in TIFF format. To perform a successful attack is enough to open such a picture on a mobile device.

A new tweak called TIFF Disabler successfully blocks the destructive DoS vulnerability. After installing the jailbreak extensions are mobile devices on iOS 9 cease to be susceptible to attacks using malicious image.
