A group of hackers who infected a Trojan about a million Android-based smartphones, detained by officers of the interior Ministry. It included 20 people from different regions of Russia, with virus hackers engaged in theft of money from Bank accounts.
“Employees of management “To” MVD of Russia <…> with the active assistance of the company Group IB stopped the activities of an interregional organized group that specialized in stealing money from Bank accounts by using Trojans, which killed more than a million mobile device users,” said Irina Wolf, the representative of the MIA of Russia
Wolf explained that the organizer of the group, which included hackers from different regions of Russia, they lived in Ivanovo, Moscow, Rostov, Chelyabinsk, Yaroslavl areas and the Republic of Mari El. The organizer of the group was 30-year-old resident of Ivanovo. The officers detained everyone in the community, four of them, the court sent under arrest to the time of the investigation, the rest were left on freedom under a subscription about not departure.
“While illegal activities have been infected with a Trojan program, more than a million smartphones, and the damage from their activities exceeded 50 million rubles,” — said the interior Ministry. During the searches, which took place in six regions of the country, police officers seized computer equipment, hundreds of Bank cards and SIM cards issued on figureheads.

Developed by a group of Android Trojan called Cron. The malware, once on the phone could automatically transfer money from a Bank account controlled by the attackers account. Hackers have discovered this goal about 6 000 accounts. After installation, the program placed in startup of the device itself could send an SMS message to these criminals telephone number, to forward the text received by the victim of SMS messages to remote servers, and to hide incoming SMS notification from the Bank.
The average amount of stolen funds is 8 000 rubles, for every day the virus was trying to steal money from 50-60 clients of different banks.
