The flagship Samsung Galaxy S8 was presented in the spring of this year, and the next generation device Galaxy S9 will debut early next year. However, in the popular benchmark Geekbench already appeared the first information about this device. Apparently, we are talking about one of the engineering samples of the gadget number SM-G9650.
To see the name of the Galaxy S9 is only part of the surprise, as this brings us to another discovery: the Snapdragon 845 (sdm845) running the upcoming flagship. Qualcomm decided to go back to the 4-core processors in the 845-d model, and the new chip has a clock frequency of 1.78 GHz. According to preliminary data, Snapdragon 845 will be completed for 7-nm process but will be manufactured by TSMC instead of Samsung. The reason is that the capacity Samsung is not yet ready to transition to more advanced process technology.
The phone is indicated in the tests as “samsung SM-G9650”. The device operates on Android 7.1.2, and include indecent for Android devices 4 GB of RAM. Nothing good to say about the performance of the new chip will not work: assessment of the RenderScript API is only 7371 score. Renderscript includes functions for 2D/3D rendering and mathematical calculations with high performance. Compared Galaxy S8, which received more than 9000 points, the result is quite weak. If the data is really owned by the new Samsung flagship, it will lag in performance even from an iPhone 7, not to mention jubilee “eight”.
Anyway, about Galaxy S9 so far little is known. In addition to information about the processor, we only know his code name “Star” and that the device will get even more slim frame, double main camera, and a fingerprint scanner built into the smartphone display.
