The Federation Council passed the “anti-terrorist” law of Spring

The Federation Council at session on Wednesday approved a package of resonant anti-terrorism laws. They were developed by the Chairman of the Duma Committee on security and combating corruption Irina Yarovaya head of the Federation Council Committee on defense and security Viktor Ozerov and adopted by the Parliament on 24 June.

For the law relating to operators and providers, voted 141 Senator, five were against and nine abstained.

One of the laws of the pack obliges operators to store information about facts, connections or three years, and the content of the talks and correspondence for up to six months. And for Internet service providers introduced a duty to keep information about the facts of the connections of one year, the content of the talks, including video of up to six months.

The Telecom operators and Internet service providers will have to begin to collect information about facts, connections for respectively three-year and one-year periods since 20 July 2016 and the content of the talks and correspondence – from July 1, 2018.

Also on the social networks and messengers will be imposed a fine up to 1 million rubles for refusing to provide the FSB with information necessary to decode taken, transferred, delivered and processed in electronic communications.”

Now the document will go on consideration to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. The representative of the head of state Dmitry Peskov said that the President will consider “different points of view” when deciding whether to sign the bill.

The Senator from Vladimir region Anton Belyakov, which, among other MPs spoke against the bill, called the document “the law of total recording and total control.” “Our intelligence services want to access information of citizens. No relation to the fight against terrorism is not,” he said.

Against the bill was organized by the Russian Internet companies, mobile operators and the Ministry of communications.
