Complaints of Russian consumers to unreasonably high prices for new iPhone models become a cause for the inspection by the Federal Antimonopoly service.
11 October 2017, the regulator confirmed its intention to consider the issue of pricing on the iPhone. Representatives from the FAS confirm that a number of natural and legal persons had complained due to too high prices of the Apple smartphones.
Earlier, the Deputy Minister said that the service is monitoring the situation and ready to proceed with the investigation in case of violations.
On the official website of Apple the price of iPhone 8 56 starts from 999 rubles, and the iPhone 8 Plus — 64 999 rubles, on iPhone X, sales of which start November 3, from 79 999 rubles.
Previous investigations of the Antimonopoly service revealed that from September 2015 prices on Apple gadgets match the majority of Russian sellers. This could mean that Apple intervenes in pricing, forcing Resellers to install “recommended” prices mandatory. However, representatives of the smartphone maker denied the accusations, and the retail network claim that chose the price based on the market situation.
Earlier in the year 2017, the company “eppl Rus” — the Russian division of Apple, was fined 1.75 million rubles for interference in setting the prices of previous iPhone models. The head of Department on work with retail networks was fined 20,000 rubles.
