The experts confirmed the theft 225,000 users of iOS devices with jailbreak

The theft of confidential information specialists have already confirmed Palo Alto Networks, called it “the biggest leak of Apple accounts”.

The researchers involved in the search for vulnerabilities in iOS, has discovered malware called KeyRaider, through which the attackers stole a huge number of user accounts. The malware uploaded to one of the Chinese repository, to be accessed by the owners of iPhone and iPad after jailbreak.

KeyRaider disguised as a program that promises the ability to download apps from the App Store. As fans of freebies among jailbreak users always had a lot of success with the malware provided. On infected devices it intercepts traffic online iTunes store, steal account information, certificates, private keys and other important information.

According to the report of experts, the attackers gained access to more than 225 000 accounts iPhone and iPad from 18 countries, including China, France, Russia, Japan, UK, USA, Canada, Germany, Australia, Israel, Italy, Spain, Singapore and South Korea. Many users has already reported about the mysterious purchases in the App Store with their accounts and lock your iOS devices for ransom.

To check the presence of malware on the device to iPhone and iPad users with jailbreak need to do the following:

  • To install from Cydia openssh.
  • To connect to the device via SSH.
  • Open the folder /Library/MobileSubstrate/DynamicLibraries/ and check dylib files to the following lines:
    • wushidou
    • gotoip4
    • bamu
    • getHanzi

    If the files contain one of these combinations of characters, experts recommend to remove them and repair the associated plist files with the same name, after which restart the device.

    Security experts emphasize that the danger is subjected to only users with jailbreak and other iPhone and iPad owners should not panic.
