Not to face shortage of iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus Apple has ordered the production of the A9 processor once the two companies: Samsung and TSMC. The first manufactures chips on 14-nm process, and the second – to 16-nanometer. User tests showed that despite the large physical size of the chip from TSMC is able to provide an iPhone 6s additional autonomy. In Apple confirmed this fact, stating, however, that the difference in comparison with models based on processors Samsung does not exceed 2-3%.
In an official statement, Apple says that tests showing the difference of battery life between iPhone 6s with Samsung and TSMC chips within 2 hours, “unreal”.
“Thanks to the Apple designed A9 chip in iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus you get a smartphone with the most advanced mobile processor in the world. Every chip that we ship meets the highest standards and delivers an incredible performance and battery life, regardless of capacity, color or models of the iPhone 6s.
Some tests, in which the processors are subjected to a continuous load to the battery of smartphones, did not reflect the true use of mobile devices as are on the maximum value of the power chips. This is the wrong way to measure battery life of the devices in real life. Our tests and data show that the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, even with different components differs for a maximum of 2-3%”.
Previously bloggers Austin Evans, and Jonathan Morrison came to the conclusion that the instances of the latest models of Apple smartphones with processors from different manufacturers, despite the same model of chip, have different runtimes and different heat up in operation.
In real conditions the user is unlikely to notice the difference and will understand what the chip manufacturer has purchased an iPhone.
