Administration service Telegram will add support of proxy servers for SOCKS5 Protocol in a future update of the app for smartphones. It is stated in the Telegram public Info, which publishes news about the messenger.
In the screenshot posted to a community, you can see the connection settings via proxy servers. A similar option is already available in version Telegram for Mac OS.
It is expected that the team of Pavel Durov prepared for the possible bypass blocking of the service on the territory of Russia. Using the SOCKS 5 Protocol messenger can send messages to bypass any future restrictions.
In may on the website Change.org there was a petition with a demand not to allow blocking of Telegram in Russia. The authors claimed that the Creator of the messenger, Pavel Durov received the notification from Roskomnadzor with the requirement to provide data for submission to the ORI.
Later this information was confirmed by the head of Roskomnadzor Alexander Zharov. During the conference CIPROFLOXACIN he said the Agency has sent the corresponding request to the developers of Telegram and “awaiting response”.
Monday Zharov said he intends to personally contact the Creator of the messenger of Pavel Durov from the requirement to provide Roskomnadzor with the information necessary for registration in the register of organizers of information dissemination (ARI).
Earlier in the Telegram, commenting on the possible blocking, said: “No government or intelligence Agency in the world has not received a single bit of information from us. Always will be”.
