Study: 90% of users in Runet choose pirated content

Only 9% of Russian users completely switched to legal content: music, movies, games, software, found in the research company ESET.

The study involved 1376 of the users. The respondents answered two questions about the attitude towards pirated content. Each of them could choose several answers.

As it turned out, the Russian users are likely to download illegal movies and TV shows – this option was chosen by 70% of respondents. With a large gap follows the music (46%) and software (45%). The book is not so interesting to the pirates – this option is noted by 34% of respondents.

Only 30% of users still trying to download cracked PC games. A relatively small number of gamers among the pirates could be due to the availability of legal gaming services, as well as with the fraudulent practice of disguising the malware under popular games or cheat codes to them, analysts say.

Only 9% of respondents always pay for a license (according to their own statement).

Most of the pirates admitted that their results under black flags high cost of legal content – on the high prices reported 80% of respondents. 28% of respondents complained about the incomplete range of legal services, 19% – inconvenient payment system.

21% of respondents – a fundamental pirates. They choose illegal content for ideological reasons – in their opinion, the information on the Internet should be distributed free of charge.

Last year’s “pirate” a survey involving 9000 respondents led to similar results. Then it was revealed 6% of honest users, respect copyright law, 8% tried to get on the path of correction.
