Speed in 5G networks will reach 20 GB/s

People’s needs for fast and high-quality communication is constantly growing. Modern man is so dense information space that sometimes it even seems that the introduction of new technologies of communication do not have time for a social life.

More recently, the 3G standard, and the subscribers thought it very quickly – no problem you to see the weather forecast, news, work with email. This is not counting the fact that improved transmission of voice, significantly decreased the number of breaks.

At the same time began to appear the first smartphones and tablets, which provided a convenient surfing on the mobile Internet. Consequently, people began to spend more time on the web. Now requires not just go to the sites, but also to use the services of navigation, browsing, mobile TV, and banking services. This caused not only the growth of technologies communication and data transmission, but also the emergence of new devices such as mobile routers, modems.

And although LTE only gaining popularity, the international telecommunication Union is already working on the specifications for the mobile networks of the next generation. This week 12 delegations discussed the specifications, which will become the standard for 5G. The experts came to the conclusion that in networks 5G generation the maximum speed will reach 20 GB/s, which is 20 times larger than the peak speed of 4G LTE.

Users will be able to download full-length HD movies on your smartphone in just a few seconds. In addition, video chats are so realistic that people will feel the effect of presence, but to view available films 8K, the quality of which is 16 times higher than Full HD.

But it is worth noting that the claimed 20 GB/s is only theoretical value, so the first time after the launch of 5G is expected to significantly lower velocity. Thus, currently the fastest standard for fourth generation networks LTE Cat. 9, maximum speed up to 300 Mbps, which is three times less than the peak capabilities of 4G to 1 Gbps. the same situation is likely to develop and launch 5G, when the maximum available speed for users will be significantly less than 20 Gbps.

In April of this year, Nokia and American National Instruments (NI) has shown the download speed data at 10 Gbps over the air using a range of 73 GHz. The developers, who said that we are talking about the test conditions “in reality,” according to the tests one of the key steps to implementing a communication technology of the fifth generation.

The commercial launch of 5G networks standard is projected for 2020.
