Sony has officially unveiled “smart” wireless earpiece Xperia Ear [video]

Sony has announced at MWC 2016 smart Xperia Ear earphone, which appeared online before the show. The company said that the gadget gives smartphone users a whole new way of communication, allowing you to look away from the screen and enjoy the world around us.

Xperia Ear works on the principle of wireless headphones Motorola. The original model of the Moto Hint debuted in 2014, and last year released the second generation of the device. But the Sony product is not intended for listening to music and not only for conversations. Sony is positioning the device as a personal assistant.

New interfaced with a smartphone and understands voice commands, is able to voice a variety of useful information to the owner. For example, weather forecast, upcoming events in the calendar, the caller name, news. In other words, allows you to stay abreast of developments. Using Xperia Ear you can give a command to the Communicator to make a call, dictate a message.

As seen in the images, the earphone is large enough. This is due to the presence of a capacious battery, which, according to Sony should be enough for a whole day of work. More specifically, the battery life is up to 3.5 hours in continuous operation, with extra charge (up to 12 hours with average usage scenarios of a smartphone) from a special case. Also stated water resistance (IPx2).

Xperia Ear will go on sale this summer. The cost of the device is not yet known.
