Smartphones with screen sizes over 5.5 inches is 59% of the market by 2021, according to Business Insider.
According to research firm IDC, in 2017, the producers put on the market 40% of smartphones with large displays. By 2021, their share is expected to increase to 59%. In the same year, smartphone sales reached one billion, compared with 611 million in 2017.
The change of the dominant form factor is not a surprise. Large screens can accommodate more information that encourages the use of smartphones. According to statistics cited by Business Insider, the owners of larger smartphones launch 21% more apps than the owners of 4-inch devices. Users of large smartphones also longer using mobile apps than the owners of 4-inch gadgets.
In 2016, 75% of smartphones Android manufacturers have had the screens more than 5.5 inches. By 2021 this figure will increase to 91%. According to analysts IDC, Apple will also increase the number of large smartphones. Share iPhone X deliveries in 2017 will be 41%, and in 2018 — 50%.
