In March this year, IKEA, the world’s largest retailer of furniture and home products, has introduced a new “smart” lighting system under the brand name Trådfri. Lamp retailer based on the open wireless standard, ZigBee Light Link, which allows you to manage them with the help of smartphones, tablets and computers. IKEA today announced that its lighting will soon get support for Apple HomeKit.
In line Trådfri include led bulbs, lamps, panel lights, motion sensors. The “hub” of the system smart lighting IKEA connects to your home router with an Ethernet cable. Buying a special controller, users can dim the brightness by simply turning it in your hand. IKEA did not specify whether the support ecosystem of “smart” home Apple added to existing models or sales will be new devices.
Thanks to the support the Apple HomeKit, the owners Trådfri can adjust the lighting using the application “Home” on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch, control, and also voice assistant Siri. In the future, IKEA plans to introduce support for voice assistants Amazon and Google Assistant.
IKEA pursues an aggressive pricing policy. Set “smart” lamps Trådfri sold for 749 CZK, or $79.99. One-bulb capacity 980 lumens (E27) can be bought for $19.99, less powerful — for $11,99. Standard illuminators (in degrees Kelvin to 2200, 2700 and 4000) will last about 25,000 hours.
