Scott Forstall: iPhone appeared out of hatred of Steve jobs to the Microsoft employee

According to Forstall, the impetus for the creation of the iPhone was a conflict of Steve jobs with some high-ranking Microsoft employee. He did not elaborate on what exactly the person in question, but stressed that it was not bill gates.

“Every time Steve jobs has somehow interacted with that guy, he was walking on edge,” recalls Forstall. It is unknown who exactly was the incumbent, but he was also married to a friend of the wife of the founder of Apple.

In interviews, top Manager of Microsoft often mentioned styli and tablets. He said that the Apple stylus will be popular among the audience. Jobs believed that the resistive touch display uncomfortable, although they were often equipped with gadgets in those years. Such displays are not of multitouch gestures, they aren’t responding at several points simultaneously. Also, jobs hated the stylus. “We were born with ten styluses”, he said.

The development of the iPad began before the iPhone, but the smartphone the company introduced three years earlier in 2007. Jobs created a prototype tablet with a display that reacted to the press at several points, it is possible, for example, to enlarge the image by pulling the corners in different directions. To control the device required only the fingers that jobs believed the best way to interact with touch screens.
