The fate of the withdrawn from the smartphone market Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is sealed. According to the publication Reuters, of them will be produced approximately 157 tons of valuable metals, including gold, silver, and cobalt and copper.
Samsung not long ago launched a rebuilt version of last year’s Galaxy Note7, which went on sale in a limited edition of a few hundred thousand units. Some of them that can’t be reused, get recycled.
Greenpeace welcomed the decision by Samsung to launch Galaxy Note 7 Fan Edition, but do not forget that last year the market was recalled 4.3 million smartphones.
A large part of the gadgets will be subjected to processing, in connection with which Samsung has published a statement which said that the company will receive as a result of this process, more than 157 tons of gold, silver, copper and cobalt. The process of recycling will begin before the end of this month.
Some of the components, including screens, cameras and memory modules will be left for installation in other smartphones. They will also use service centers. Additionally, Samsung will sell parts at discount prices.
These actions will not allow the manufacturer to return the $5.4 billion lost due to problems with the Galaxy Note 7. At the same time, the company keeps his promise to dispose of the problematic devices are the most “environmentally friendly” way.
