Samsung newly purchased machine, which will produce the CPUs Apple A12 compliance with the 7-nm for future iPhone. This publication reports The Investor.
In the current flagship iPhone 7 is used single-chip system Apple A10, manufactured using 16-nm process FinFET and layout of substrate-level InFO (Integrated Fan-out). Processors A11 for the Apple iPhone 8 is supposed to be based on a more advanced 10-nanometer process technology and the next generation of chips is still more subtle 7-nm. Production will be carried out according to the method of extreme ultraviolet lithography.
One of three Directors of Samsung Electronics Kwon Oh Hyun last month called for Apple agreed to the “Apple” giant on the supply of processors and other components for iPhone. In particular, it has been confirmed plans to supply OLED displays. As you know, Samsung is 95% of the relevant market displays.
Until 2013, Samsung was the main supplier of processors for Apple, and then the bulk of the orders went to TSMC. According to new reports, Samsung will receive a portion of orders for system on a chip for the iPhone in the next year.
Samsung is planning to compete with TSMC, Apple offering more affordable prices. The South Korean giant may also produce other chips for example, flash memory, and to provide services to end stage of production, including testing and packaging.
