Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus vs iPhone 7 Plus: comparison of performance in games

Since the announcement Galaxy S8+ many people are interested in how the device behaves in games in comparison with the iPhone 7. The Creator of the YouTube channel XEETECHCARE launched two flagships of the same gaming applications and compared the device performance.

Two flagship differ both in design and hardware. Galaxy S8+ uses edge-to-edge Super AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2960×1440 pixels, with rounded edges that smoothly “covers” the smartphone. The iPhone 7 Plus screen resolution Full HD (1920×1080), i.e., pixels less, but, of course, the Retina panel — bright, exceptional clarity and perfectly balanced colors — compensates for a lot.

While screen Galaxy S8+ significantly changes the appearance of the smartphone, inside has also undergone a huge change. Device based on the Snapdragon processor 835 with a clock frequency of 2.45 GHz. the iPhone 7 Plus equipped with a proprietary Fusion A10 processor with a frequency of 2.34 GHz. In benchmarks the first is slightly ahead of Apple’s flagship chipset.

For the experiment we decided to use two popular game project – Asphalt 8: Airborne, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas with the default settings. The results were not too good for lovers of headshots: FPS on Galaxy S8+ sags, so high skill can not speak. In some scenes, Korean does not show the desired frame rate, what can be said about the iPhone 7 Plus.

Samsung smartphones despite the declared performance worse cope with the games. While there is no guarantee that the developers will adapt them for Galaxy S8+. Although, as stated by the author of the experiment, for gaming he would prefer the South Korean device due to the larger display.
