Data provided by the Korea financial Supervisory service Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), indicate that over the past year, Samsung has fired over 5,000 employees. Reductions occur because of declining sales of smartphones.
As of the end of September 2015 the total number of employees of all divisions of Samsung amounted to 212 331 people, whereas a year earlier the indicator was equal to 217 685. It is easy to calculate that for the year the South Korean company has reduced staff by more than 5 354 people.
Almost half of the total reductions in the holding I had on the Samsung Display and Samsung Electronics. Thus, in the display unit the state decreased by 1339 people and was 25 599 employees, and the flagship subsidiary Samsung Electronics, suffering from falling demand for smartphones, the number of employees declined by nearly 1000, up to 98 577 people.
The more compact the staff became, and in other departments. For example, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, specializing in electronic components, it decreased by 814 person, while Samsung SDI, which produces batteries, at 687. In addition, 602 jobs eliminated Samsung C&T and Samsung Engineering were laid off 700 employees.
The only Samsung units, the state which grew over the year, the steel shipbuilding and Heavy Industries company insurance Fire & Marine Insurance: the number of employees they have increased by 167 and 129, respectively.
