Samsung accused of inflating data about the pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 and S8+

In the beginning of April, Samsung has opened pre-orders for the new smartphone Samsung Galaxy S8 and G8+ . The company said that in just two days, South Korean customers have ordered 550 000 devices. According to this indicator, the new flagship supposedly 150 000 units exceeded the failed Galaxy Note 7 and 5.5 times – a year ago, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.

Samsung said that they are going only in South Korea collect more than one million pre-orders for the Galaxy S8 and G8+. However, analysts are skeptical about this. Some experts suggested that Samsung deliberately overstates the data already collected pre-orders.

“Most of the purchase requisitions Galaxy S8 may be a figment of the imagination of Samsung, — said he during the press-conference of the Association of Korea Korean distributors Mobile Distributors Association. Since Samsung collects data from mobile operators and independent distributors, there is a high probability of double counting”.

Samsung were quick to comment on this statement, noting that there are no errors in the calculations there. “The final number of pre-orders may vary, but we have no reason to inflate the data,” said a company representative.

The company noted that the demand for Galaxy S8 is huge, several times more than the previous models. However, it is understood that even if this information is true, increased demand for Korean new product on the home market does not guarantee that the Galaxy S8 will have the same success in other regions.

To judge the sales of the Galaxy S8 and S8+ will be the launch of smartphones, scheduled for April 21.
