Sales of the iPhone for the major Apple market fell for the first time in history

Apple lost its leadership in the world’s largest smartphone market China, according to data of analytical company IDC. Moreover, the “Apple” giant dropped out of three of the most successful manufacturers.
In 2016 iPhone shipments in China fell for the first time in history. In October-December last year, the decline amounted to 12.8%, bringing the Apple drops from first to fourth place in the list of largest smartphones on the market of China.
Although iPhone models in glossy and matte black colors attracted the attention of the people of China, in a whole range of new flagships was not as popular as the previous one.
The leaders of the Chinese market was local Oppo, where shipments of smartphones in the country has doubled. In the top-3 also includes Chinese brands – Huawei and Vivo. Despite the high activity of Chinese manufacturers, they will not be able to significantly reduce the share of Apple in China, observers believe.
According to analysts, in the fourth quarter of 2016, smartphone shipments in China reached 135,7 million units, an increase of 19% compared to the same period of the previous year. According to the results of last year the market grew by 3%, while the share of local producers has increased to 57% from 46% in 2015.
As noted in the IDC, the year 2016 was significant for the global smartphone market. In the fourth quarter of 2016, smartphone shipments globally reached 428,5 million units, which is 7% higher than a year earlier. According to the results of last year was released 1.47 billion tubes against of 1.44 billion pieces in 2015.
In the last quarter of 2016 Apple became the leaders in shipments of smartphones globally, ahead of Samsung. Three leaders closes the Huawei, whose market share rose to 10.6 percent.
