The largest Russian manufacturer of synthetic sapphire monocrystal in the first half of 2015 increased revenue by 30% to 2.1 billion this is reported by “Izvestia” with reference to the Minister for the North Caucasus Lev Kuznetsov.
The company, however, remains unprofitable with 2013 loss for 2013 — 277,5 million rubles, in 2014 — 453,9 million, the loss for January-June 2015 are not disclosed). Revenues last year rose by 44% to RUB 2.3 billion to 3.3 billion rubles.
Earlier in the report, analyst firm Yole Developement company monocrystal recognized in 2014, the largest producer of sapphires with annual revenue of $87 million is 7% of the total market in 2014. Income from the production of artificial crystals for Russian enterprise are an American company Rubicon and Korean Sapphire Technology Co Ltd., the report points out.
“This enterprise is among the three world leaders in their field. As another enterprise of Stavropol, manufacturer of perfumery and cosmetic products of OJSC “Arnest”, “monocrystal” and effectively implements its international expansion. Last year monocrystal has become one of the largest suppliers of sapphire for the watches of well-known computer company, and I hope that this is just the beginning,” — said Kuznetsov.
One of the main clients of the company last year became the Apple eating in the enterprise of artificial sapphire for the Apple Watch and the iPhone. Now, according to “Crystal”, about 40% of its production is supplied to two-inch plates (used in the Apple Watch), 60% — to four-inch. The end of the year the plant plans to increase the production capacity by 20% and take 30% of the world market, said the company. More than 98% of the production of “single Crystal” is exported.
In July monocrystal for the first time in the world was grown by 300-pound sapphire crystal using the kyropoulos method on its own technology. The company has 30 years experience in the production of sapphires, previously there have already grown sapphires weighing 100 kg and 140 kg.
