Russia launched a military Internet

The Russian armed forces completed the deployment of a communication system under the official name “the private data segment” (SSPD).

According to “Izvestia”, the military Internet is not connected to the Global network, and the computers connected to it, protected from connections of non-certified flash drives and external hard drives. SSPD is deployed inside a dedicated mail service that allows you to send secret information marked “Special importance”. The entire workflow of soldiers passes through it.

“The last work was completed in late summer of this year, after which the network operates in full. Currently we are planning to expand by installing additional terminals in military units and institutions,”— said the source.

According to informed sources, part SSPD deployed on leased equipment of JSC “Rostelecom”, a part — on their own distributed infrastructure of the Ministry of defence, not connected to the Internet.
