Roskomnadzor, as expected, have begun blocking a mobile app Zello in Russia. Providers will have to restrict access to servers that use messenger.
The reason for blocking was the failure Zello to register as an organizer of information dissemination.
“Roskomnadzor initiated the procedure of restricting access to information systems of the company Zello Inc. The company within the statutory period did not provide information for inclusion in the register of the organizers of the dissemination of information, ignoring the requirements of the Supervisory authority”, – is spoken in the message of Roskomnadzor.
The company Zello announced that it will not register as on the “law of Spring” organizers of information distribution in 2018 will have within six months to store all user data. Founder Zello considers the requirement of article of the law is absurd from a technical point of view and refuses to comply with them.
April 8, 2017, the makers of Zello users warned about possible blocking of service in Russia. The company then published the requirement of Roscomnadzor to send to the office of the data to include service in the register of the organizers of disseminating information.
Zello is an instant messenger that works on the principle of radio. Users record voice messages and send them to each other or a common channel. This application is popular, in particular, the truckers who are protesting across Russia against the system “Platon”.
