Lock messengers was confirmed by the representative of Roscomnadzor Vadim Ampelonskiy. The services were blocked after he refused to provide the authorities with data about their users and their activity in the services messaging.
“We are working with the authorities conducting operational-investigative activities systematically fill the register of the organizers of disseminating information. Those who do not respond, are under lock — in full accordance with the law,” said Ampelonskiy. The official didn’t tell what other messengers have been sent requests.
“All will learn as decision-making in relation to specific services,” he said.
The organizers of the dissemination of information, according to the Russian legislation, can be considered physical and legal persons owning a Internet sites that allows to send email messages. In the appropriate registry of Roskomnadzor are already popular Internet services, such as Mail.yandex.ru, Liveinternet.ru, Habrahabr.ru and others.
