Yota Devices is preparing a production of smartphones YotaPhone 2 in Russia. About it in interview “to the Newspaper” has told CEO Vladislav Martynov.
According to Martynov, we are talking about a special version of the smartphone that gets extra software protection from eavesdropping and unauthorized access. The production will be deployed at the facilities of Kaluga Electromechanical plant belonging to the concern “Automation”, part of rostec.
“Such devices can only be done at the security company,” said Yota Devices.
“We need to have an economic base for the production in Russia. After all, even with tax incentives we will not be able to do the build cost we are lower than in Asia. We find justification. There is a need to secure mobile devices in a public institution, officials and the state. This is a huge market,” said Martynov.
A test batch of the device is already being prepared. According to the Director General, the choice of the enterprise was due to the need for strict control over production and that produce such secure smartphones is possible only on a special enterprise.
Martynov noted that while the basic components for the YotaPhone 2 are produced abroad. However, now there is engineering work on the creation of a smartphone with e-ink, which produces part of RUSNANO company Plastic Logic. “I can’t say yet when it will be released YotaPhone with display Plastic Logic,” — said Martynov.
In addition to smartphones, Yota Devices plans to release several different devices with e-ink, one of which will be presented at the end of 2015. “I can just tell you: we are not a one product company,” — said the head of the company.
