Presents a new data transmission standard Bluetooth Mesh [video]

The Bluetooth SIG, responsible for the development of a common wireless interface, introduced a new format Bluetooth data transfer Mesh. The development is aimed at further development of devices “smart” home.

The new standard provides for a multi-cell distribution data during transmission. Bluetooth uses a virtual Mesh network: data transmitted from one cell to another until you reach the destination. According to the developers, it will help in the development of the technology of the Internet of things.

For example, if you want to send data from the sensor in one room to a smartphone in the other end of the room. Information will be transmitted through the intermediate nodes: tablets, laptops, computers and any other devices that support the technology. As a result, the sensors can communicate with a Central hub in the far distance.

A similar signal is sent directly to the receiver would require more energy than transmitting to the nearest cell. So IOT devices can work longer offline.

The advantage of Bluetooth Mesh is that it does not require changes in hardware. The technology can work on all devices with Bluetooth 4.0 and 5.0, but requires software update. For the development of the standard, the organization hopes to attract manufacturers.
